Dear Layla,
Reasons for you to pitch a fit today starting at 8:00 a.m.
I tried to change your morning diaper..lets save space and make this EVERY time I changed your diaper today
I put you in child care while I tried to work out
I took you out of your carseat (weird)
I put you down to get your brother from the car
I tried to make breakfast...lunch...and dinner
I shut the door to go to the bathroom (I really just wanted a minute alone)
I had the audacity to try to eat (by the time I got to eat it was cold and burnt but what's new)
I picked the eye goobers from your eyes
I gave brother a pacci first
I let brother sit on my lap while you were sitting on it
oh and about a million other reasons....
Reasons for mommy to throw a silent tantrum to herself....
All of the reasons listed above
I love you little girl but there are days that I almost love your bed time more.....almost.
Love you anyway,
Mommy
PS I should note that between all the fits....at one point you leaned over and gave your brother a kiss. You kill me

Dear Layla,
Let me tell you about some events from this morning. It is important to note that whatever ailment you and brother have has been given to me....so I am tired and sickly today without help.
7:45 You squeezed your fruit pouch out all over the place
8:45 You played with a yogurt cup and got yogurt all over your PJ's ...and the floor. Oh did I mention it was yogurt from yesterday....that you dug from the trash?
9:15 You made your way into the pantry and walked around with the raison container. It was upside-down.
11:30 You refused to nap...and kept brother from napping by throwing the contents of your crib onto him...and stealing his paccie.
1:00 You watched Sophia the first while laying with your head in my lap. We sang the twin song together...you looked up at me and sat up and kissed me. You even made the kiss noise. My heart nearly exploded.
It was a long day for mommy. You guys never napped. Your little kiss made it worth it.
Love,
Mommy

Dear Layla,
Tonight you woke up crying again. You were sick so I went ahead and got you. You jumped off my lap and ran over to the basket to get your little stuffed puppy. You immediately ran back to me and climbed on my lap. It was the first time I looked at you and realized that you are more toddler than baby. The baby is growing out of you and it kind of breaks my heart. I never want to forget the softness of your chubby fingers, they are my favorite part of your little body. I hope you know how much you are adored little one.
Love,
Mommy

Dear Layla,
I just pulled a chunk of squishy fig bar, along with a massive wad of snot from my hair.
I know it was you....

Dear Layla,
We took the car to the mechanic today. You and your brother ran around all over the place. The receptionist thought you guys were adorable and helped me chase you around. The man in the waiting room however, did not. You went up to him, patted his knee, and tried to start a conversation. He didn't even bother to look up from his paper, except to throw a nasty glare my way. I almost punched him in his beady little soul-less eyes, but then I realized if I went to prison, your daddy would have to take care of you. He would be good at it but he would never understand your need to accessorize, so I put my emotions back in check. A girl should be two things in life, classy and fabulous. If you learn nothing else of the late, great Audrey Hepburn, learn that please. Anyway, It was his loss little munchkin.
You hugged the crap out of your brother in the tub today. I kept clapping and eventually you clapped for yourself too.
I love you darling girl,
Mommy

Dear Layla,
You bit Nolan in the tub. You bit him so hard that his arm welted. He did not appreciate it.
Neither did I.

Mommy

Dear Layla,
You were an absolute stinker today. You didn't want to go to bed tonight either. I let you cry for about 45 minutes before I gave in. We cuddled on the couch for awhile before we shared a bag of chia tortilla chips. I ended the day enjoying your little spirit and not wanting to put you down for bed. I cherish moments when it's just you and me.

Mommy
